How To Use NeonNits®

For BEST results Use NEON NITS as follows:

1.  Using a stiff bristle brush (Do not use the single, plastic tooth, type brush),

brush your child’s hair and SCALP firmly (over a tub or trash can) in the

opposite direction of normal.   It is believed that when an egg first hatches,

the young nymph burrows under the scalp for the first 2-4 days and can be missed

by any treatment.   Brushing the scalp firmly may help to dislodge the

youngsters and make them vulnerable to treatment.

2.  Follow the directions on your treatment of choice to eliminate the adults and eggs.

3.  Use a good nit comb and egg loosener.  Comb the hair in small sections, rinsing the comb frequently under running water.

4.  If you have used an OIL-based treatment like tea tree oil, or anise oil,

all oil must be removed with regular shampoo PRIOR to using Neon Nits.

5.  Dry hair completely.

6.  Separate hair into small sections of about ¼ to ½ an inch or 25 mm.  Pin up hair not being sprayed.  Use Neon Nits after treatment, on DRY, OIL-free hair.  Spray NN LIGHTLY on hair, in small sections, at a distance of about 6-8” or 15-20 cm.   DO NOT SATURATE HAIR OR MAKE HAIR WET WITH SPRAY.   Allow a few seconds to dry.  NN will dry almost immediately if sprayed lightly from 6-8 inches/15-20 cm, away from the head.  Avoid spraying the scalp and skin.   Use the DRY, stiff bristle brush, to remove as much dye from hair as possible.  Brush the hair over a trashcan or bathtub to catch dried dye.  If nits are still present, they will be permanently dyed BRIGHT PINK.   You can see them and remove them.

7.  Continue to brush as much dried dye from hair as possible before wetting hair to shampoo.

8.  Shampoo hair with regular shampoo to remove excess dye.  If NN is used on blonde or light colored hair, excess color can be removed by making a paste of baking soda and water and massaging into hair.  Rinse and repeat if necessary.

9.  KEEP CHECKING YOUR CHILD’S HEAD DAILY.

10.   Check everyone in the household.   Neon Nits can be used to look for nits prior to treating, to determine if treatment is necessary.
